  • Explain that the month of May has the liturgical colour of green and that the month of May is a special month of the year when we pray to Mary, the mother of Jesus.

  • Explain that Mary is often called other names. For example, in the hymn The Sun is Shining Brightly Mary is called the Queen of Heaven and is also known as Queen of the Angels, Queen of the May, Queen of all Saints and Queen of the Rosary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=govHN-UKBk0
  • Ask questions to explore Mary. For example, why do you think Mary is given the title of Queen?  What does a queen normally do?  Who does Mary rule over?  Do you think Mary is a good Queen?

RE

During Lent we should use this time to reflect on ourselves and ask for forgiveness. Children have recently received the Sacrament of Reconciliation and we have spent a lot of time in class reflecting on ourselves.

Try to create a Prayer Space at home. This can be for you and your family,  a place where you can come together to pray to God.

Here are some ideas to help you –

https://buildfaith.org/creating-a-prayer-space-at-home/

Topic

  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

During this time, look for at least one thing in your home that you can reduce, reuse or recycle. What is the item? How are you going to do it?

Create a poster (with your own slogan!) and present it to your family about something you could all do to help the environment. See if they have any ideas of their own and work together.
