Writing

 

Write a letter to someone you know. It could be your grandparents, a cousin or even one of your friends from school.

Let them know what you have been doing and some of the things you are looking forward to doing when you can see them again.

 

 

Remember to include the features of an informal letter:

  • your address and date in the top right of the page
  • start with a greeting (Dear_____,)
  • introduction to tell them why you are writing to them
  • write in paragraphs
  • finish with an informal sign off (best wishes/yours truly) and your name

Problem Solving

Farmer Dom’s sheep are escaping out of his field, he needs to put a fence around it.

 

  1. The length of the field is 24 metres, the width is 10 metres How much wooden fencing does farmer Dom need to purchase to go around his field.

 

  1. Farmer Dom notices that there is very little grass on his field, so he decides to resurface it with new grass. So farmer Dom doesn’t get too little grass he has to measure the area of the field. Can you help him?

 May is a very special month devoted to Our Lady.

 

Each day say the Hail Mary with your family for those in our world who need our prayers the most during this uncertain time.

 

Set up an altar where you can pray to Our Lady.

You can include a picture/drawing of Mary, some flowers made from paper or picked from the garden, a candle if possible.

 Draw a large circle and divide it into eight sections. In each section write a situation, for example: ‘is bitten by a dragon’.

 

Ask a family member to number each section 1-8. You choose a number and have to write a paragraph about the situation. Challenge yourself to do more than one.

Keep a diary for three days. Write a diary entry for each day which includes three paragraphs (morning, afternoon, evening).

 

Start your diary entry with ‘Dear Diary’ or you could come up a name for your diary!
